Perfect Sautéed Green Beans

Whether you’re looking for a healthier alternative to the traditional Green Bean Casserole, or just want another tasty way to enjoy more vegetables in your diet, you’ve got to give this Perfect Sauteed Green Beans recipe a whirl. All you need is one pan, some good ol’ salt and pepper, and a bag of Mekhala’s seasoned Crispy Onions.

 

Perfect Sautéed Green Beans
Serves 2-4

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Mekhala Crispy Onions of choice (We used Umami Seaweed Crispy Onions)

 

Method:

  1. Blanch the Green Beans:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
    • Add the green beans and cook for 3-4 minutes, until bright green and tender-crisp.
    • Drain the beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
    • Drain the beans again and pat them dry.
  2. Sauté the Green Beans:
    • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.Add the blanched green beans to the skillet and toss to coat with the garlic oil.
    • Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are heated through and slightly browned in spots.
    • Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  3. Finish and Serve:
    • Remove the skillet from the heat.
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
    • Top with Mekhala Crispy Onions of choicez

Tips for Perfect Green Beans:

  • Trimming: Make sure to trim the ends of the green beans before cooking.
  • Blanching: Blanching the beans helps retain their bright green color and crisp texture.
